NDC COURSE NO. 5 GAINS INSIGHT INTO PORT OF COLOMBO OPERATIONS

Participants of NDC Course Number 5 visited Sri Lanka Ports Authority(SLPA) in Colombo on 17^th September 2026, to gain practical exposure to one of the most vital economic hubs of the country. The delegation was welcomed by Capt. Lakshi Siwrathne, Harbour Master, and Mr. Pradeep Perera, Director Operations.

Harbour Master conducted a well-structured informative presentation to further explore; future strategies, plans for capacity expansion, digital transformation, and sustainable growth. During the field visit, participants received a comprehensive briefing on port operations, maritime logistics, and the strategic role of the Port of Colombo in regional and global trade. The visit comprised; explore in to ‘Jaya’ Container Terminal Control Room, ‘Eastern’ Container Terminal, and the Breakwater, along with a visit to the Maritime Museum.
