PARTICIPANTS OF COURSE NUMBER 5, VISITED TRINCOMALEE IN ORDER TO GAIN MORE EXPOSURE AND STRATEGIC INSIGHTS

Participants of NDC Course Number 5, together with faculty members successfully completed a local study tour to Trincomalee and Sigiriya from 13^th to 16^th July 2026 as a part of the course curriculum. The visit was designed to enhance participants’ understanding of regional governance, national security dynamics, and the strategic significance of key military and government institutions in the Eastern Province.

During the tour, the delegation paid courtesy calls on the Honourable Governor of the Eastern Province, Prof. Jayantha Lal Ratnasekera, the Commander, Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kosala Warnakulasooriya, and interacted with the General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division, Major General Kanchana Weerasekara.

The delegation also visited ‘Fort Frederick’ and the historic ‘Sigiriya Rock Fortress’, getting exposure into Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage. Spouses of the delegation too got an opportunity to join during the time of visiting heritage sites.
