INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIVE STUDY PROGRAM (ICSP) 2025

As a part of the course curriculum, Course Participants (CPs) of NS&SS course 4/2025 conducted ICSP to INDIA, INDONESIA, and PAKISTAN. Visits commenced on 25 April and concluded on 06 May 2025.

The primary objective of ICSP was to study on visiting country’s; national defence policy, security strategies, military capabilities, and strategic placements of key defence and state owned institutions. Emphasis was placed on understanding industrial bases; defence in particular, focusing on state-owned enterprises that promote self-reliance. Through these tours, participants sought to examine the policies, and strategic functions; explore the role of governments’ defence diplomacy in regional and global engagements, and mutual understanding of defence cooperation between Sri Lanka and respective countries. In addition to defence-centric exposure, delegation explored rich historical, environmental, and cultural heritage of visited countries.



ICSP TO INDONESIA

In line with the ICSP a team of 17 member delegation visited INDONESIA, headed by the Commandant. Delegation comprised with 15 CPs, five from Sri Lanka and ten from friendly foreign countries.

The program was coordinated by the Sri Lanka Embassy to Indonesia in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence of Indonesia. It featured a series of high-level visits and engagements across Jakarta and Bandung, which included the Sri Lankan High Commission, ASEAN ecretariat, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indonesian Coast Guard, Defence University, and Indonesian TNI Headquarters (Armed Forces Headquarters) in Jakarta and Armaments & Munitions Manufacture Industry, and Aerospace Center in Bandung.

ICSP TO INDIA

The second team of 16 member NDC delegation visited INDIA, headed by the Secretary NDC

In line with the objectives, the program was coordinated by the Sri Lanka High Commission to India in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence of India. The visit incorporated series of high-level visits and engagements at New Delhi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru; including the Sri Lankan High Commission in New Delhi, Integrated Headquarters (IHQ) under the Ministry of Defence, Air Force Academy (IAF), National Defence College (NDC), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Baharat Electronic Limited (BEL).

ICSP TO PAKISTAN

The third delegation comprising 16 members, led by Senior Directing Staff - Navy conducted the visit to PAKISTAN.

The Sri Lanka High Commission in Islamabad coordinated the visit in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence of Pakistan. It contained a series of high-level engagements at Lahore and Islamabad, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Naval Headquarters, Joint Staff Headquarters (JSHQ), National Aeronautical Science and Technology Park (NASTP), and Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS). The delegation also visited the Army Museum in Lahore, as well as prominent historical and cultural sites such as the Badshahi Mosque, Lahore Fort, and Taxila.
