The Graduation Ceremony of the third NS&SS course marks a milestone achievement

The National Defence College held its third prestigious graduation ceremony of the National Security and Strategic Studies Course 03/2024 on 18 November 2024, at the Faculty of Graduate Studies Auditorium of Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. The ceremony took place in the esteemed presence of the Chief Guest, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) WWV RWP and two Bars RSP and Bar USP, MMSc (Strat Stu-China), MSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), fndu (China), psc, the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence.

Following the successful completion of the NS&SS Course, 41 senior officers from the Tri Services and Police including eight officers from foreign nations, proudly received their National Defence College (NDC) credentials, signifying their mastery of Strategic and Defence Studies.

The distinguished cohort of graduates included 16 officers from the Sri Lanka Army (including one female officer), 8 officers from the Sri Lanka Navy, 6 from the Sri Lanka Air Force and 3 officers from the Sri Lanka Police (including one female officer). Additionally, eight foreign officers were part of the graduation; one each from the Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh, the Republic of India, and the Sultanate of Oman, and five officers from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Secretary of Defence, in his address, conveyed his sincere congratulations to the graduates for reaching this significant milestone in their profession. He emphasized the critical role they now hold in securing the nation’s interests and contributing to the country’s development, highlighting the importance of their advanced education for safeguarding National Security.

The ceremony was further honoured by the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including the Chief of Defence Staff, Commanders of the Tri-Forces, Acting Inspector General of Police, Defence Attachés from various diplomatic missions, senior military and police officers, academia and the families of the graduates, all of whom added grandeur and significance to this momentous event.
