The National Defence College visits the Port Authority and Colombo Dockyard Limited

A local study visit was carried out by the NS&SS Course 3/2024 as per the economic security module on 30 May 2024. The visit embarked on an informative study visit to the Sri Lanka Port Authority (SLPA) Colombo and Colombo Dockyard Limited (CDL). This visit, a pivotal component of the course curriculum under the ‘Economic Security Study Module’ aimed at fostering a nuanced understanding of key economic hubs in the country.

Led by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) Harbour Master Mr Nirmal de Silva and officials, the delegation delved into the intricate operations and services that define the Port of Colombo. The Harbour Master brought out invaluable insights into the port's functionalities, strategic significance and its way forward in bolstering the nation's economic resilience. In addition, the Course Participants visited the port control tower and engaged in an interactive session with the officials.

As a subsequent sitting, the Course participants visited Colombo Dockyard Limited (CDL) and had the opportunity to broaden their knowledge on CDL functions and its contribution to the Sri Lankan economy.
