NDC commenced Year 2024 with the first working day with a proactive approach

The first working day of 2024 was marked with a formal ceremony at NDC today (01 January), evincing due prominence to flag hoisting, recitation of the National Anthem, swearing in the Government Service Oath, and the address of the Commandant NDC.

The Commandant, Major General DGS Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu, extended his gratitude to all the Officers, Other Ranks, and Civil Staff who were presented for the formal proceeding at the NDC premises. He emphasised the significance of NDC in the realm of National Security and Strategic Studies and how important the role played by each individual is to bring NDC up to today’s standards. In his speech, he expressed his gratitude to the former Commandant and all the staff.

In addition, the Commandant emphasised his views on the government plan for sustainable development and how to navigate, giving due consideration to discipline and work-life balance in the context of ongoing situations. Further, he highlighted the duty, commitment, and importance of meticulously managing finances and facing the challenges lying ahead, and he also stated that everyone should do their part to ensure the nation's interests while upholding the honour and prestige of the Sri Lankan armed forces.

To conclude the event, members of the NDC joined a traditional all-ranks tea.
