Master of Science in National Security and Strategic Studies
(MSc - NS & SS)

Master of Science in National Security and Strategic Studies (MSc - NS & SS) degree programme has been designed in accordance with the Sri Lanka Qualification Framework (SLQF) and academic standards is equivalent to Sri Lanka Qualifying Framework level 9 (SLQF-level 9) where a minimum of 30 credits are to be covered for MSc. Commandant and Senior Directing Staff of NDC designed and formulated the syllabuses in collaboration with a panel of senior academics and professionals from Kotelawala Defence University and University of Colombo and expertise knowledge contribution from friendly foreign countries.

Eligibility Criteria

Course participants who meet stipulated requirements will be conferred the Masters Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies. Senior Armed Forces officers (local/foreign) in the rank of Colonel/Brigadier equivalent or above, Police officers of SSP/DIG, and senior government official who fulfil the following criteria are eligible for the Reading MSc Degree.

a.  A Bachelor’s degree (SLQF L6) from a recognized university;

or

  A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of three-year duration (SLQF L5) with a minimum of two-year experience in the relevant field;

or

c.  Pass Staff College (psc) / Logistics Staff Course (Lsc), Long Logistic Management Course (LLMC) or an equivalent from a local or foreign institution with a minimum of 12 years of service;

or

d.  Officers in the rank of Colonel/Brigadier equivalent or above who have completed a minimum of twenty (20) years’ service as a commissioned officer and a minimum of 15 years of experience for senior government officers in administrative/executive grade.

or

e.  Commissioned officers in the Sri Lanka Police with a minimum of 12 years of service;

or

f.  Any other relevant qualifications recommended by the BOS and accepted by the Faculty Board/Faculty of Graduate Studies and approved by the Senate.
