NDC Welcomes The Second Batch Of The National Security and Strategic Studies Course 02/2023

The National Defence College embarked on its main annual academic programme, National Security and Strategic Studies Course No 02/2023 on 09 January with the participation of 36 senior officers of the Sri Lanka Armed Forces and Police.

The event was graced by the Commandant, Major General Amal Karunasekara RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc MSc. At the outset, the Commandant addressed the course participants and extended his best wishes for being selected to follow the nation’s premier defence education programme, tailor-made to foster potential future policy-makers of the country.

Emphasizing his views, the Commandant highlighted the importance of possessing the necessary intellectual ability for effective decision-making as strategic-level leaders. Moreover, he has highlighted the need for inter-institutional and civil-military synergy to safeguard the national interests against novel security challenges and reiterated the NDC is the paragon to achieve such objectives.

The day's program was concluded with the main course briefing by the Secretary, National Defence College, module briefing by respective Senior Directing Staff, ‘Introduction on Library Access to British Council’ by Mrs. Shiroma Benaragama, and a lecture on ‘Basic Principles of Strategy, Policy and Concepts’ by Rear Admiral YN Jayarathne (Retd) RWP, RSP, USP, ndc, psc former Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy.
