Commodore Hasantha Dassanaike: National Defence College Alumnus Leading Innovation in Sri Lanka Navy

Commodore Hasantha Dassanaike, a distinguished National Defence College (NDC) alumnus, excels in shaping the Sri Lanka Navy's strategic and technological landscape. As Director of Naval Design, he has achieved significant milestones, including his Directorate's recognition by the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) and receiving his fourth Letter of Commendation for contributions to the Navy’s Strategy 2030.

His influential work includes the development of the ‘Maritime Doctrine’ of Sri Lanka and completing advanced training at the Naval Shipyard in Pearl Harbour. Currently pursuing an MPhil at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) and having published three international research articles, Commodore Dassanaike also contributes to nurturing future engineers, demonstrated by his role as a panellist at KDU’s ‘Talk to Uni’ event. His commitment to national defence and academic excellence underscores his role as a key innovator in Sri Lanka's naval and engineering fields.
