Air Vice Marshal Muditha Mahawattage: A Distinguished Alumnus of the National Defence College

Air Vice Marshal Muditha Mahawattage, an esteemed alumnus of the National Defence College, Sri Lanka, exemplifies exceptional dedication and leadership within the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF). Having completed the demanding National Defence and Strategic Studies course at the NDC, he has significantly advanced his career and contributions to national defence. As the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force since June 2024, Air Vice Marshal Mahawattage has showcased remarkable leadership and strategic acumen, reflecting the profound impact of his NDC education.

Born on 07 October 1969 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Air Vice Marshal Mahawattage embarked on his illustrious career in the SLAF in 1989 as an Officer Cadet at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. With a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and extensive experience across various key positions, including Director General of Aeronautical Engineering and Commanding Officer of numerous units, he has played a pivotal role in the development and maintenance of the Air Force’s capabilities. His academic achievements include a Master of Science in Strategic Studies and completion of advanced military courses both locally and abroad, underscoring his commitment to excellence in both his professional and academic pursuits.
